An enthusiastic crowd of supporters was on hand today to launch the re-election campaign for Conservative Party of Canada candidate Gary Lunn, with the official opening of the campaign office on Keating Cross Road in Saanichton.

“It has been my honour and privilege to represent the people of Saanich-Gulf Islands since 1997.” said Lunn, “With your help I am looking forward to continuing the work of our Conservative government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.”

Lunn cited the many successes the government had already achieved, including keeping the economy on sound footing despite global uncertainty, keeping taxes low to spur job creation, and ensuring our communities are safe and secure, but said the job isn’t done yet.

Minister Lunn was joined by guest speaker John Furlong, architect of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

"Without question Gary is the best Sport Minister we have had for the past 35 years" said Furlong. "Through his actions he has made the statement that sport matters and is important to Canadian families. Working with him on the Vancouver winter games proved to me that when Gary takes on a project he delivers beyond expectations".

“Today is an important step in returning a Conservative government to Ottawa with a renewed mandate from the people of Canada,” concluded Lunn, “I want to thank all of my constituents and volunteers in advance for their support leading up to Election Day on May 2^nd.”
